France Residential - Years 5/6

Year 5/6 had an amazing time in France, in December. We travelled by coach and ferry, for a busy three days. On the Wednesday, we visited a traditional French Sweet Factory (yum, yum) and then setlled into our Chateau and had an evening of games. On the Thursday morning, we visited the Somme battlefields: the Lochnagar Crater, Thiepval cemetary, memorials and museum, and Newfoundland, where we even got to walk through the trenches. The whole experience was very moving and we learnt an enormous amount! In the afternoon, we went to the town of Amiens, where we did some shopping (with all of our speaking in French) at the Christmas Markets (you will see from the pictures that eating crepes was a firm favourite here)and we also visited the very beautiful cathedral. In the evening, we had a traditional French evening, trying frogs legs and snails and also completing a French quiz. On the Friday morning, we visited a French supermarket and did a supermarket challenge, which was great fun.
