Autumn term

This term we will be learning to follow the nursery rules and routines. We will welcome lots of new starters and learn how to be good friends and involve others in our play. We will learn to speak in front of our peers and listen to one another during circle time. Staff will help us to explore the nursery environment and will use targeted interactions to push our learning forward.

We will begin to explore environmental sounds and instrumental sounds during phonics sessions and will begin working on recognising numbers 1-10. Those children who started nursery during the Spring and Summer term will focus on segmenting simple three letter words (c-a-t, d-o-g) and will look at how groups of objects can be combined to create a new quantity.

We will look at the leaves changing and explore Autumn through hand on learning experiences. This term we will introduce weekly Forest School sessions which will develop our abilities to risk manage and become independent learners.

During story time we will read lots of tradditional tales and practice retelling key elements. We will talk about who is in a story and what happens at the beginning, middle and end.

Keep and eye on our parents' information board outside nursery to find out what we are focussing on each week and how you can help at home.

We are looking forward to a very exciting Autumn term!
