Our school vision is that

"Wilmslow Grange has very high expectations, of academic success, behaviour, excitement and fun."

A broad, balanced, stretching and exciting curriculum is central to this vision.

Following consultation with staff during the spring term of 2015, we have developed a comprehensive Teaching & Learning policy which sets out, in detail, our expectations regarding the teaching and learning of the National Curriculum (2014) at Wilmslow Grange.

Central to our curriculum is the idea that pupils will achieve more if inspired; that work has to be stretching for pupils to achieve to their potential; that pupils need extended periods of work to achieve at their highest level and they need to have quality feedback from self-assessment and their teacher.

The policy was approved by Governors in May 2015 and the outcomes of pupils are monitored against it weekly, by the 'Core Subject Standards Team'.

For any further information about the curriculum at Wilmslow Grange please contact Mr. Mark Unwin, Headteacher, at the school office.

Our reading scheme is based on the Benchmark Colour Band system - your child will progress through these bands as they learn to read - full information is provided at several Parent Forums about how to assist with reading throughout the school year.

Chidlren are expected to read at home, at least five times per week, and record this, with a Parent signature in their Reading Record books - these record books contain reading lists to encourage the pupils to read a variety of stretching texts.

The children learn to read through the use of Systemic Phonics based on the Read, Write Inc system - full inforrmation is provided at Parent Forums throughout the year.
